Tiger Serve Day: Joy in Serving Others
January 01, 2020
Our Tiger Serve Day experience serving Jane Quick was one of the best we had ever
had. Mrs. Quick was very kind and took a sincere interest in our personal lives. Upon
arrival, Mrs. Quick was cutely waiting for us on her front steps reading a newspaper.
The first thing she told us was that she had read a very interesting article on Ian
Cosh and that she had been one of professors back in his college days! This was such
a cool fact and set us off on our first of many extremely interesting conversations.
She then gave us an official grand tour of her entire magical property.
Before giving us our work assignment she had each of us write down our names and where
we are from, explaining that she really wanted to remember us but that she knew should
would forget otherwise. Next she gave us our work assignment, and made sure to emphasize
that all she really wanted was for us to have fun. While we were working she mysteriously
disappeared and returned with a wide assortment of drinks and a box of sugary treats
for all of us!
My experience serving Mrs. Quick really emphasized to me what Tiger Serve Day is all
about, and that is the joy stemming from serving others. Yes, it is a lot of fun to get together with friends and go out and work on a project,
but the real point is that we are doing something for someone else that they would
not have otherwise been able to get done. We are able to reach out to someone that
we would not otherwise have gotten a chance to reach out to.
Tiger Serve day is a way for those who want to serve to get matched up with someone
who needs a service done. But in the end I feel that everyone would agree that it
is not only the people getting served who are blessed, but those who serve are also equally blessed by the experience. Tiger Serve day is awesome and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is
looking for an amazing way to serve the community.
All in all, working with Mrs. Quick was probably the best Tiger Serve Day experience
I have ever had. She was as much a blessing to us as we were to her, and I would love
to work with her another time!
