A Weekly Word: Job 37:5-6
January 01, 2020
I love to watch God’s power in the beauty of a storm. From my front porch I can look across a field and watch the approaching storms with their rolling clouds, wind, thunder and lightning. The storms can leave me in awe of God’s power and in some cases frightened by the sights and sounds of the approaching storm. The magnitude of the storm can leave me standing still in wonder or running to seek shelter.
Maybe you are having trouble seeing God’s greatness today because it is difficult
to see past your circumstances, daily frustrations or approaching storms. I encourage
you to take time to pause and reflect on the mightiness of our great God. He created
all, has unlimited power, wisdom and strength. His greatness is beyond our limited
understanding at times and His ways are not our ways, but He is in control.
God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'
Job 37:5-6
My prayer is that we never let ourselves treat God so casually that we take His greatness for granted. After all, He is our creator. He speaks in the thunder. He tells the snow and rain when to fall.
Let’s remember to praise Him today in the middle of our circumstances – and sometimes
in spite of our circumstances – because He is in control. Sing with me …“How great
is our God, How great is our God, and all will see, How great, How great is our God.”
