Bullet Journaling: A planner solution to rock your semester
January 01, 2020
Ah, you’re thinking, “Oh this is just another story about how to get organized.” Well,
kinda and kinda not. Bullet journaling is a new craze – or at least it is to me. It
can easily be done in a matter of minutes each day to help you get the most of out
your time and to reach goals you’ve set for yourself.
Step one: Get a journal. It can be anything from your local superstore or something nicer like a Moleskine
or Leuchtturm1917. I started out with a $3 notebook from the school supply section.
It had a grid, which I really like, but my next one will have a dot grid.
Step 2: Set up your journal.
- 1st: Index. Treat this like a table of contents.
- 2nd: Semester in review. This is usually a 4-month high-level overview, perhaps highlighting major dates.
- 3rd: This will be something that you can easily remember such as dots or dashes. Each one will represent a certain thing such as a task, appointment or meeting.
- 4th: Monthly overview. This can be set up in a list or a block/calendar style.
- 5th: Weekly pages. This is done in many ways. Mine is set up in block style with each block having a day. Here you put your most important things happening that day.
- 6th: Daily pages. You start out a page with the first day of your week and then write under it all the things you need to remember or do. You can organize this pretty much anyway you want. Some weeks take up one page and some take up several pages.
Step 3: Organize your trackers or logs. These can be habit trackers, health trackers, spending trackers (which is a big one
on a college budget), a gratitude log or a prayer log.
And there you have it. You can make it as pretty or plain as you wish. Some sites
that are really helpful are www.bohoberry.com and www.wundertastisch.com . Both have monthly pintables which are useful for saving time. You can print them
on regular paper or large label paper and then stick them down.
I’m a believer in using a bullet journal because I tried other systems and never finished
a month. Now that I have been bullet journaling and know what is happening each week,
I feel more in control and less stressed. So go, get creative, get organized and rock
your semester!
