Both Jason and Jennifer chose to attend OBU to pursue their passion for swimming. Little did they know that they would also find each other through swimming and education courses.

After graduating from OBU, Jason and Jennifer moved to Texas where they both received teaching and coaching positions. For the past four years now, Jennifer has taught four different subjects and two different grade levels. Jason has also taught four different subjects. They describe themselves as being very “well rounded!”

When asked how OBU prepared them for their careers, Jennifer stated “going from 1st to 6th grade I felt that I was prepared, because I had  the opportunity to be in a variety of different classrooms teaching different grade levels. I also know that classroom management is very important, and I believe that Ouachita gave me the tools that I needed to be successful.” For Jason, the transition to coaching was easy. “Four years as a Ouachita Tigershark under Ryan Killackey gave me plenty of content to work with.”

When thinking of her favorite OBU Education Program memory, Jennifer recalls her student teaching experience. “I was fortunate enough to work with two Teachers of the Year.”

For his favorite P-12 classroom memory, Jason thought of his third year of teaching. “I was approached to teach a class that I knew very little about in my third year of teaching. Although the school year was stressful, it forced me to stretch my abilities and get outside of my comfort zones. I believe it was a year that I’ll look back on as a make or break year in my teaching career. In this year I found a love for technology and am proud to say that at this point I am a paperless teacher and will be presenting at GISD’s tech-ed conference this summer on Google Classroom usage.”

For Jennifer’s favorite P-12 classroom memory, she thought back to her first year of teaching. “It’s the first class that you will ever have and where you learn the most.”

Thank you, Jason and Jennifer Pullano, for being life changing educators!
