Let’s taco ’bout it
January 01, 2020
I’m a big fan of Mexican food. I have my regular restaurant that I will forever stay
loyal to. They even know my order by memory now, and it’s all because I’ve eaten lunch
there every Saturday for the past six years.
However, I have tasted a taco, and, while I’m not one to be melodramatic, my life
has been 4-ever changed. I may not be able to stand behind a political party, but
I can stand behind Tacos for President ... wow, awkward. I meant Tacos 4 Life.
I mean, I’ve had a taco, but I hadn’t had a Tacos 4 Life taco before. There’s a difference.
I had my first T4L experience a week ago and I’m still shaken. The tacos? Spicy. The
fruit punch? Fruity. The queso? Cheesy. The friendly (and super-fast) service? Incredible.
And everywhere I looked, I saw Ouachita. There were my Ouachitonian amigos sitting
at a table next to me, several Ouachita alums sporting their purple T-shirts across
the room and even professors sitting in booths. I’m sure they were all there to support
the Ouachita alums who started Tacos 4 Life – and to eat good tacos.
Not only does the restaurant have an amazing aesthetic and cool playlist, but the
business is a “meal 4 meal” program. Anytime I buy a meal, they give a meal to a child
who is hungry. I’m even more willing to walk to the counter, hand them a $20 bill
and say, “Give me as many tacos as you can.”
It’s becoming a problem though. Honestly, it’s interfering with my school work. I
can’t think about finals or my grades because all I think about anymore is the next
time I can eat at Tacos 4 Life. But I can’t drive to Benton anytime I want a taco;
my parents tell me that’s excessive … and obsessive. So the only solution is if Austin
and Ashton Samuelson plan to open their next grill in the ’Delph. (If you are reading
this, Austin or Ashton, I’m begging you: please make the next one in the ’Delph.)
Until then, Cinco de Mayo luckily falls on a Friday this year. I don’t mean to be
jalapeño business (I’m so sorry for the pun), but you should definitely treat yourself to
a nice celebration meal. I’m talking tacos, fruit punch and queso: the ingredients
to a perfect night. Take a break from studying and have a night out with your friends.
And just in queso you don’t have anyone to go with (that one was a stretch), hit me up. Even if we
are strangers, we can get to know each other on the 45-minute drive to Benton. We
can taco ’bout (last pun, I promise) our love for tacos.
