Ouachita Christmas events of 2016
January 01, 2020
It’s widely known that Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year, but
did you know that Ouachita is the most wonderful place to be during the season? Campus
is full of festive parties, activities and celebrations for students and the community
to enjoy. Here are a few events to help you celebrate the season at Ouachita this
year.
CAB Christmas Party • Wednesday, Nov. 30 • 8 p.m.
Christmas is about the family coming together, right? Well the CAB Christmas Party
is a time for the Ouachita community to come together and celebrate the season with
a Christmas coffeehouse, Santa and treats! Join the party on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. in
Evans Student Center.
Speechie Christmas Tree Lighting • Thursday, Dec. 1 • 10 p.m.
The Speechies are ringing in the season on Dec. 1 by lighting our campus tree at 10
p.m. near the International Flag Plaza. With hot chocolate and an opportunity to donate
children’s books to the community, there’s plenty of reason to join the fun. Come
after Refuge and support the Speechies!
Festival of Christmas • Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3 • 7:30 p.m.
Celebrate the season with your favorite Christmas songs with the Ouachita Choir, Singers,
Sounds and Women’s Chorus. Enjoy the music to set the tone for the rest of your holiday.
Festival of Christmas will take place Dec. 2-3 at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts
Center. Tickets are $12 each (OBU students free, group rates available); get yours
at www.obu.edu/boxoffice.
Christmas Chapel • Tuesday, Dec. 6 • 10 a.m.
One of the all-time favorite chapel services of the year is always the Christmas chapel.
With annual performances by the Concert Band, your cheer is sure to be amplified.
Christmas Chapel, led by Dr. Craig Hamilton, will be Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. in Jones Performing
Arts Center.
A Service of Lessons and Carols • Tuesday, Dec. 6 • 7:30 p.m.
What could be better than more Christmas music? Ouachita Singers and Women’s Chorus
lead a service of corporate worship and scripture reading that reminds us why we celebrate.
A Service of Lessons and Carols will be held on Dec. 6 at 7:30p.m. in McBeth Recital
Hall.
Christmas Climbing • Friday, Dec. 9 • 8 p.m.
Throw on your favorite Christmas sweater, get ready for some snacks and head down
to the Climbing Center in SPEC on Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. for a night of Christmas climbing!
This is a free event, and a perfect way to have some fun for the finals week begins.
It’s not much longer until the long awaited day of December 25. Unfortunately, it
only comes once a year so make the most of the most wonderful season with these Ouachita
celebrations! Merry Christmas!
