OBU’s Bob Webster receives major research award
February 10, 2009 - Genevieve Horton
Dr. Bob Webster, the George Young Professor of Business at Ouachita Baptist University,
was recently awarded the Allied Academics Distinguished Research Award in Reno, Nev.,
for his manuscript “Does a Market Orientation Strategy Exist Toward Business School
Students? A View from Three Levels of Academic Administrators.”
This was Webster’s fourth such award. The article was co-authored by Dr. Kevin Hammond
of the University of Tennessee at Martin and will be published in an upcoming edition
of the Academy of Marketing Studies Journal. The two authors met at Louisiana Tech
University in the early 1990s. The award-winning article is part of a series they
have been working on for the past five years.
“We believe students are customers of the schools and we researched if academic administrators
treat students as customers,” Webster said, adding that “the treatment of students
is certainly different than businesses treat their customers.”
Another of Webster’s articles, “Comparing the Machiavellianism of Today’s Indonesian
College Students with U.S. College Students of Today and the 1960s” was published
in December 2008 in the International Business and Economics Research Journal. Two
more of his articles are expected to be published in the spring of 2009.
