OBU pulls all-nighter with 10-minute play festival

March 12, 2009 - Emory Jacobs

Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 7th annual 10-Minute Play Festival All Night Theatre March 12-14 at 7:30 p.m. in Verser Theatre.

The 10-Minute Play Festival consists of student-written and -directed 10-minute plays. Auditions will be held Thursday, March 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Verser. Rehearsals will begin Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. and will carry on through the night in preparation for the final shows Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The program directors for the festival are Michael Krikorian, a senior musical theatre major from Rockwall, Texas; Rachel Street, a senior musical theatre major from Mahomet, Ill.; and Katie Willhite, a sophomore Christian and biblical studies major from Rowlett, Texas.

The three directors have added something new to the shows this year to make it even more entertaining for the audience.

“This year the audience will be voting on their favorite show, actor and actress,” Krikorian said. “There will be a voting ballot in the program, and at the conclusion of the talkback session following the performances, the results will be announced. There are no prizes; it’s simply a way for the audience to acknowledge their fellow students.”
