Ouachita Baptist University will hold its annual Health and Fitness Expo from 3:30
to 6:30 p.m. March 17 in Walker Conference Center on Ouachita’s campus.
The expo will feature between 30 and 40 booths including screenings for cholesterol,
blood sugar, blood pressure, vision and bone density. Other booths include the Core
of Engineers detailing water and outdoor safety, the Oxygen Project with smoking effects
on students, and several booths representing groups from OBU’s campus such as dietetics,
athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, rec sports, outdoor recreation
and the university counselor.
“I think it’s really important for students to be exposed to the resources around
them and to know to start young in life taking their health into their own hands,”
said Molly Wallace, OBU director of health services.
The expo began more than a decade ago in the student center as a health fair with
fewer than 20 booths. Over the years it has expanded to include fitness and has moved
into Walker Conference Center where it has doubled in size.
