Eight Ouachita student-athletes named to GSC All-Academic Team

Eight student-athletes from Ouachita Baptist University have been named to the Gulf
South Conference's 2009 Spring All-Academic Teams, including three Ouachita baseball
players, two softball players, two golfers and one member of OBU's women's tennis
team.
A total of 40 Ouachita student-athletes also were named to the GSC's Academic Honor
Roll.
The All-Academic Team is selected by GSC sports information directors and faculty
athletic representatives. Nominated student-athletes must have an overall grade point
average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for their entire academic career. Other factors
include making a significant contribution to one's team, leadership, community service
and extracurricular activities.
Ouachita student-athletes selected for this honor include senior baseball players
Jarod Hershberger, Blake Lockwood and Drew Wurzelbacher; senior softball player Emily
Matthews and her teammate, sophomore Kristin Rigsbee; junior golfers Robert Greer,
who also was named to the All-Academic Team last year, and Dax Demaree; and junior
women's tennis player Thokozile Zulu. Rigsbee was one of two softball players with
a 4.0 GPA who were honored.
The eight Ouachita athletes also were named to GSC's Academic Honor Roll which requires
a minimum 3.0 GPA. Other Ouachita students named to the Honor Roll include:
Baseball - Drew Baker, Mark Cain, Brock Green, Chris Gordon, Will Gowdy, Luke Hardcastle,
Beau Martin and Matt Mueller.
Golf - Bobby Allen, Tanner Simon and Tyler Simon.
Softball - Taylor Austin, Nikki Bain, Sarah Bell, Kelli Bratton, Korrine Cook, Monica Davis,
Jana Deen, Aspen Grams, Sarah Hanson, Whitney Hays, Whitley Hoppe, Alexis Johns, Crystal
Robinson and Randi Wilson.
Men's Tennis - Till Heilshorn, Jan Plewinski and Vaclav Stverka.
Women's Tennis - Mariana Divardin, Natalia Drada, Katie Potts and Megan Ruggles.
