Ouachita holds BlogAbout in honor of Sept. 6 Founders Day
September 03, 2010 - Breanne Goodrum
Ouachita Baptist University will hold its first annual BlogAbout in honor of the university’s Founders Day Sept. 6. Current students and alumni are collectively invited to share their Ouachita stories on their blogs that day. Links will be posted at www.obu.edu/blogabout.
Several faculty and staff members “met last spring just to talk about social media
and how we use it as a university,” said Lori Motl, OBU director of admissions counseling.
“As I was thinking about social media and how viral things can go, I thought how cool
it would be to get our alumni to blog about OBU at the same time.”
“We are asking each blogger to share their Ouachita story,” added Lauren Land, OBU
internal director of alumni. “There is always a place for such stories, and while
they are shared year-round, the hope is to set aside one day where Ouachita is on
the top of everyone’s mind.”
Coordinators of the project hope that after this Founders Day the responses will continue
to grow as Ouachita’s 125th anniversary celebration approaches next year.
