Ouachita’s Academic Enrichment Center to host financial literacy workshop Oct. 25

October 25, 2010 - Ben Harrington

Ouachita’s Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) will host a financial literacy workshop Monday, Oct. 25, in the Evans Student Center Banquet room from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including lunch.

The main focus of the workshop will be to assist students in determining a financial plan to take them from enrollment through graduation. The workshop will be conducted by the Student Loan Guarantee Foundation of Arkansas and will address issues dealing with budgets and credit cards.

Frances Nelson, director of the AEC, is enthusiastic about the many opportunities the AEC is offering students. Nelson said she is excited about the Academic Enrichment Center playing an integral part in the college success of its participants.

The AEC utilizes a variety of activities to assist eligible students in making a successful transition from a high school environment to university life. Nelson also noted that the basic goal of the center is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.

The Academic Enrichment Center staff is committed to providing the “total package” to its participants, and the financial literacy workshop is one way for participants to take advantage of that opportunity.
