OBU Career Services to hold Resume Writing Workshop March 7

February 29, 2012 - Sydney Phillips

Ouachita’s Office of Career Services will host a Resume Writing Workshop on March 7 at 12 noon in the Alumni Room of the Ouachita Commons. The workshop is the first in a series of events designed to help students prepare for the OBU Career Fair in April.

“We want students to be prepared because the Career Fair can be an intimidating event,” said Lauren Land, director of career services. Land encouraged all students to participate in the workshops so that they may stand out in a “competitive market.”

Land emphasized the importance of the resume in a job search, calling it “the tool employers use to get to know you.” She added that the workshop is designed to help students in crafting their resumes because “it’s harder than you think to organize and condense your thoughts onto one page.”

Guest speaker Truett Horne, who works for the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, will lead students through the workshop and offer them tips and tools for “crafting a resume that’s going to be competitive,” Land said.

For further information on the workshop or other upcoming events, contact Lauren Land at [email protected] or (870) 245-5593.
