Ouachita to host annual Pastors’ Conference Sept. 27
September 19, 2012 - Rachel Gregory
“Luke’s Account of the Passion Week” in Luke 19-24 will be closely examined during
the Ouachita Baptist University Pastors’ Conference Sept. 27 in OBU’s Walker Conference
Center.
As Ouachita marks its 15th year to host the Pastors’ Conference, Dr. Terry G. Carter, Dr. J. Scott Duvall and
Dr. C. Marvin Pate, faculty members in Ouachita’s Pruet School of Christian Studies,
will serve as conference leaders. Ministers and church leaders from throughout the
state and region are invited to attend the annual one-day conference.
“Our goal is to provide pastors and other staff members with solid and current biblical
scholarship, along with suggested methods for presenting the material at their home
churches,” said Dr. Danny Hays, dean of OBU’s Pruet School. “Another important goal
is good fellowship and the nurturing of friendships.” He estimates that this year’s
Pastors’ Conference will draw 100 or more pastors, faculty and students to Ouachita
for biblical learning and Christian fellowship.
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and brunch. Ouachita President Rex
Horne will welcome the attending pastors, faculty members and students at 9:30 a.m.
followed by a brief time of worship led by Dr. Rob Hewell, director of OBU’s Worship
Studies Program.
From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Pruet School faculty members will host sessions to equip
participants as they interpret and preach the gospel of Luke. Breaks and lunch will
separate the four sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase
faculty-authored books at discounted prices.
The registration fee is $50 per person, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch
and refreshments. Visit tinyurl.com/obupconf2012 to register. For more information, contact Tracey Knight at [email protected] or (870) 245-5599.
