Tiger Day set for Nov. 30 at Ouachita

November 23, 2012 - Adam Webb

Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Admissions Counseling will host a Tiger Day Friday, Nov. 30, as an opportunity for prospective students to get an inside look around campus and student life. There also will be a special afternoon and evening session for prospective students interested in music. That evening, prospective students will also have the opportunity to attend Ouachita’s annual Festival of Christmas concert.

"I love Tiger Day because it has a major impact on students," said Lara Dyar, senior admissions counselor. "It gives students a normal day of college life."

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of Hickingbotham Hall. The opening program will be held at 9 a.m. in Young Auditorium, followed by a session featuring all of Ouachita’s academic deans. Guests then have the opportunity to tour campus and attend classes, and parents are invited to a question and answer session with administrators in Young Auditorium at 11 a.m. Traditional Tiger Day events conclude with lunch in Walker Conference Center followed by the opportunity to tour Ouachita’s residence halls. Those interested in studying music are invited to a performing arts class performance at 2 p.m., followed by a masterclass at 3 p.m.

Lori Motl, OBU’s director of admissions counseling, said she is especially excited to offer this masterclass opportunity to guests, as it will allow them to “interact in a unique way” with Ouachita’s current music students and faculty.

Ouachita’s annual holiday production, A Festival of Christmas, will be held that evening at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at www.obu.edu/boxoffice.
