Ouachita Baptist University will host three student recitals in the W. Francis McBeth Recital Hall of Mabee Fine Arts Center on Friday, March 8.

Courtney Stanage, a junior piano performance major from Hot Springs Village, Ark., will perform her sophomore piano recital at 11 a.m. Her recital program will include W.A. Mozart’s “Allegro con spirito Sonata in C, K309,” Claude Debussy’s “La Cathédrale Engloutie” and Robert Schumann’s “Novellette: op. 21, no. 1.”

Ben Stidham, a sophomore musical theatre major from Dallas, Texas, will also perform a recital at this time.

Michelle Levy, a senior musical theatre major from Decatur, Texas, will perform her senior voice recital at 2 p.m. accompanied by Terri Lucas, OBU staff accompanist. Levy will perform four songs and two scenes including: “A Cockeyed Optimist” from South Pacific by Rogers and Hammerstein, “Never” from On the Twentieth Century by Cy Coleman, “Act 2, Scene 1” from An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde, “You Must Love Me” from Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Act 1, Scene 1” from Busybody by Jack Popplewell and “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” from Shall We Dance by George Gershwin.

“This recital is composed of more than just a small assortment of pieces that I have worked on during my time here at Ouachita,” Levy said. “Instead, it is full of carefully chosen songs and scenes that are meant to showcase the diversity of my art. Portraying characters from a crazed movie star, to a heartbroken Englishwoman, to a low-class Cockney, I will have 25 minutes to prove to the faculty, and to myself, that I am ready for the next step.”
