Ouachita to host Woodwind Chamber Ensembles in concert Nov. 12

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host the Woodwind Chamber Ensembles
in concert on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine
Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The clarinet and saxophone ensemble will begin the concert by performing Steve Knight’s
arrangement of “Mock Morris” by Percy Grainger, Dwight Gustafson’s arrangement of
“Amazing Grace,” Elizabeth Drury’s arrangement of “St. Paul’s Suite” by Gustav Holst
and Megan Massey’s arrangement of “Keep Breathing” by Ingrid Michaelson. Massey is
a senior instrumental music education major at Ouachita.
The concert will continue with the double reed quartet. They will perform “Romance
for Oboe Duo” by William Parker, “Trio Pathetique in D Minor” by Mikhail Glinka, “Rage
Over a Lost Penny” by Ludwig van Beethoven and William Schmidt and “Echo Sonata” by
Antonio Lotti.
The saxophone trio and clarinet ensemble will conclude the concert with “Trio Concertino”
by Walter Hartley and Alexis Ciesla’s arrangement of “Itmar Freilach,” a traditional
Klezmar theme.
Members of the clarinet and saxophone ensemble include: Zach Barber, a sophomore instrumental
music education major from Mansfield, Texas; Hannah Bowen, a junior choral music education
major from Lewisville, Texas; Chris Hogan, a junior instrumental music education major
from Bartlesville, Okla.; Scott Kemp, a freshman instrumental music education major
from Jessieville, Ark.; Allison King, a senior instrumental music education major
from Fort Worth, Texas; Megan Massey, a senior instrumental music education major
from Weatherford, Texas; Elizabeth Neel, a freshman instrumental music education major
from Arkadelphia, Ark.; Brent Nessler, a senior instrumental music education major
from Rowlett, Texas; Suzanna Rieves, a sophomore Christian studies/Christian missions
major from DeWitt, Ark.; Crista Riggs, a senior chemistry and biology major from Edmond,
Okla.; Chelsea Villanueva, ajunior instrumental music education major from Bentonville,
Ark.; Sara Walker, a junior Christian studies/Christian missions major from Mt. Pleasant,
Texas; and Lauren West, a music major from Hot Springs, Ark.
Members of the double reed quartet include: Tori Clifton, a freshman kinesiology and
leisure studies major from Henderson, Texas, on oboe; William Lawson, a junior Biblical
languages and Spanish major from Bryant, Ark., on oboe and English horn; Wes Savage,
a freshman musical theatre major from Rudy, Ark., on bassoon; and Megan Massey on
bassoon. Kristen La Madrid, OBU staff accompanist, also will perform on the piano
with the double reed quartet.
The saxophone trio includes Zach Barber on alto saxophone, Scott Kemp on baritone
saxophone and Brent Nessler on tenor saxophone. This portion of the concert will also
feature OBU staff accompanist Susan Monroe on the piano.
