March 20, 2014 - OBU News Bureau
The Ouachita Baptist University Athletic Department has announced the resignation
of men's and women's swimming and diving Head Coach Ryan Killackey effective March
31.
In a letter to Athletic Director David Sharp, Coach Killackey expressed his "sincere
appreciation for the support and the opportunities for professional growth the university
provided me during my time here."
Noting that he enjoyed the opportunity to coach at Ouachita, Killackey also expressed
appreciation for "the opportunity to guide and mold our student-athletes."
Killackey, a 1998 Ouachita graduate, was a four-year NCAA Division II All-American
distance freestyler. After earning a master's degree from Chaminade University in
Hawaii, he returned to Ouachita as an assistant coach for two years before being named
head coach in 2008.
Coach Sharp said he is grateful for the time Coach Killackey gave to the program and
wishes him the best in future endeavors.
Sharp said he and Ouachita President Rex Horne will begin an immediate search for
a new men's and women's swimming and diving coach.
