Ouachita trustees elect five alumni as new board members

Five alumni of Ouachita Baptist University have been elected to the university’s Board
of Trustees. The new board members succeed trustees who have completed their terms
of service on the board.
The five new trustees include:
Scott Carter, a 1981 Ouachita graduate. Carter is manager of Long Brothers Oil Co. He and his wife, Debbie (OBU class of
1982), are members of First Baptist Church of Norphlet, Ark. They are the parents
of three children, Seth (OBU class of 2008); Jake, a former Ouachita student; and
Sarah Liz (OBU class of 2014).
Larry Kircher, a 1965 Ouachita graduate. Kircher is the retired CEO of Citizens State Bank in Bald Knob, Ark. He and his wife,
Molly (OBU class of 1964) are members of Central Baptist Church of Bald Knob. They
are the parents of two daughters, Laura Hays and Jennifer Self (OBU class of 1994).
Betty Oliver, a 1958 Ouachita graduate. Oliver is retired from the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service where
she served as staff chair for Pulaski County. She and her husband, Bob, are members
of First Baptist Church of Little Rock.
Beth Anne Rankin, a 1993 Ouachita graduate. Rankin is executive director of the Arkansas 529 Gift college savings plan. She is
a member of Central Baptist Church of Magnolia, Ark.
Bob White, a 1981 Ouachita graduate. White is manager of the special services division of ARKUPS (Arkansas Underground
Protection Service) in Conway. He and his wife, Cindy (OBU class of 1981) are members
of First Baptist Church of Searcy. They have one daughter, Elizabeth (OBU class of
2014).
Board members rotating off the Ouachita Board of Trustees are Curtis Arnold of Little
Rock; Clay Conly of Bentonville, Ark.; Mollie Morgan of Mountain Home, Ark.; Lloydine
Seale of Arkadelphia, Ark.; and Dr. Susan Wamble of Pine Bluff, Ark.
In other business, trustees re-elected Jay Heflin of Little Rock as Board of Trustees
chair and Dr. Ken Shaddox of North Little Rock as vice chair. Board members also elected
Mary Pat Anthony of El Dorado, Ark., as board secretary.
Board members also approved Rachel Jones as director of career services at Ouachita.
She succeeds Rachel Roberts who had served in that role since 2014.
Jones previously served as marketing director for Sodexo on the Ouachita campus and
as a hall director and assistant director of recreational life at Ouachita. She also
has held staff positions at Midwestern State University and University of the Ozarks.
Jones holds a Bachelor of Science degree in international business with minors in
Spanish, management and marketing from Oklahoma State University. She currently is
pursuing a master’s degree in human resource development from Midwestern State University.
Her husband, Wilson Jones, is head coach of the Ouachita men’s soccer team.
