OBU Pruet School of Christian Studies to host Pastors’ Conference Sept. 29

OBU Pruet School of Christian Studies to host Pastors’ Conference Sept. 29.September 16, 2016 - Erin Jackson

Ouachita Baptist University will host the 2016 Pastors’ Conference on Thursday, Sept. 29, on the university’s Arkadelphia campus. Ouachita’s Pruet School of Christian Studies and the Arkansas Baptist State Convention collaborate to host the event.

Each year, LifeWay Christian Resources selects a book of the Bible to highlight for a Winter Bible Study that many churches conduct from January to March. The conference is an opportunity for pastors to gain notes and insights on that particular book in the early fall to be better prepared for their own teaching early the next year.

“Most pastors rarely get time away from their churches to refuel. Our conference offers one day away when pastors receive a current commentary for their library, notes from our professors’ sessions and discounts on Pruet faculty-authored books,” explained Dr. Danny Hays, dean of the Pruet School and one of this year’s conference leaders. “In addition, we hope the time to fellowship with other pastors and ministers is an encouragement to these who so faithfully serve our Arkansas churches.”

The topic for this year’s conference is “Malachi: Complacency Exposed.” Also helping lead the conference is Dr. Doug Nykolaishen, associate professor of Biblical studies.

The conference is a one-day event starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 3:30 p.m. Registration can be completed online at www.obu.edu/pconf. The cost is $55 per person and includes the NIV Application Commentary on Joel, Obadiah & Malachi by David W. Baker, session notes for preaching and teaching, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments, the opportunity to purchase PSCS faculty-authored books at discount prices and fellowship with others in ministry.
