October 31, 2016 - Haley Martin
The Ouachita Baptist University Chamber Ensembles will perform a concert on Monday,
Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the McBeth Recital Hall of the Mabee Fine Arts Center. The
concert is free and open to the public.
This concert will feature performances by several ensembles playing a variety of instruments.
“It will be a lively and fast-paced evening,” said Dr. Justin Isenhour, assistant
professor of music in the Ouachita School of Fine Arts.
“Chamber music help our students grow and develop in unique ways,” Isenhour added.
“In large ensembles they often double each part so there’s more than one person playing
each part, but in a chamber group every member is playing the same music.”
The concert will begin with the saxophone ensemble performing William Schmidt’s “Hallelujah,”
Percy Grainger’s “Irish Tune from Country Derry” and Wolfgang Mozart and William Schmidt’s
“Rondo form Serenade No. 10,” followed by the horn ensemble performing “Kum Ba Ya
Variations Spiritual,” arranged by Percy Hall, and “Imbroglio” by Seth Daniell. The
concert will continue with the trombone choir performing “Tosto che l’alba” and “Leviathan”
by Jack Wilds.
