Jeff Crow, former director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, has been named
the first director of Ouachita Baptist University’s new Department of Campus Safety
and Emergency Management, according to Dr. Wesley Kluck, vice president for Student
Development.
Crow, who began his new position this month, has 35 years of experience in public
service, including 15 years as a trooper and sergeant with the Arkansas State Police.
“I appreciate the leadership of Dr. Kluck in devoting last school year to collaborating
with students, faculty and staff to consider a new approach to safety,” said Ouachita
President Ben Sells. “We devoted six months to finding the inaugural leader of the
Department of Campus Safety and Emergency Management and I’m so pleased with the selection
of Jeff Crow.”
“I am very happy to join the Ouachita family and look forward to getting to know all
of the students, faculty and staff,” Crow noted. “I appreciate the leadership of Dr.
Sells and Dr. Kluck in the development of this new program and I am eager to begin
working collaboratively with everyone to create the safest possible environment for
the Ouachita community.”
The new model is a hybrid approach that includes campus safety officers as well as
a focus on emergency management education and training. It will transition to replace
Ouachita’s current arrangement with Whelan Security by June 1.
“I am very pleased to have Jeff as the first director of the Ouachita Campus Safety
and Emergency Management Department,” Dr. Kluck said. “Jeff has a wealth of knowledge
and experience in law enforcement, administration, leadership and education. I have
personally known him for several years and look forward to having him as a part of
the Student Development and Ouachita team.”
Prior to his current position, Crow served six years with the Arkansas Game and Fish
Commission, including serving as deputy director, chief of staff and most recently
as director where he led a staff of more than 580 employees. He previously was a law
enforcement management instructor with the University of Arkansas Criminal Justice
Institute. He also is a former corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired sergeant
major with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
Crow is certified as a professional law enforcement instructor and law enforcement
firearms instructor. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas
State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management from John
Brown University and an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice from
National Park Community College. His daughter Addison is a senior at Ouachita.
