                           								- Rachel GaddisOuachita Baptist University’s Department of Art and Design is hosting an art exhibit
in its Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery through March 28 that features the work of its
faculty members. A reception for the exhibit will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 11
a.m. in the first floor of the Adams Gallery, which is located in Moses-Provine Hall.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Faculty members featured in the exhibit include: Donnie Copeland, chair of the Department
of Art and Design and associate professor of Art and Design; Kara Gunter, adjunct
                              instructor of Art and Design; Cary Roberson, associate professor of Art and Design;
Ferris Williams, assistant professor of Art and Design; and René Zimny, assistant
                              professor of Art and Design.
“I am pleased to be part of this exhibit and this group of faculty. Each of us has
provided something different and personal for the show,” Copeland said. “The variety
of media and themes is also a pleasure as there is quite a bit to see and consider.”
A variety of media are included in the exhibit, including: illustration, graphic design,
glass casting, fibers, video, abstraction and mixed media.
“As a new faculty member, I was excited about participating in this exhibition, especially
during my first year at OBU,” Roberson said. “All of the faculty in the department
are practicing artists and designers, and we don’t often get to see what the others
are working on outside of the classroom.”
“I’m also honored to work with faculty that displays such a range of artistic and
creative talent and expertise,” Zimny said. “I think it speaks well to the diverse
                              talents within our department.”
“This diversity of work shows our students that, even though we are a small department,
the range of possibilities that can be created by them is pretty vast,” Roberson added,
“and that they have access to a group of faculty artists and designers that can help
guide and support them on their personal creative explorations.”
