Ouachita Baptist university’s Division of Music will host Logan Dooley and Madeline Martin in their sophomore recitals Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m. The recitals will be held in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center and are free and open to the public.

Dooley, a sophomore musical theatre major from Allen, Texas, is a two-time Southern Region First Place Finalist for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and three-time Texas All-State Choir member. Dooley’s instructors are Dr. Jon Secrest, Addie Mae Maddox Professor of Music, and Stephanie Murry, associate professor of theatre arts.

Dooley will perform Gaetano Donizetti’s “Come Paride Vezosso” from L’Elisir D’Amore, followed by Franz Schubert’s “Nacht und Träume.” Next, he will perform Henri Duparc’s “Le Manoir De Rosemonde” and Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein’s “You are Beautiful” from Flower Drum Song. To conclude his recital, Dooley will perform Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones’ “I Can See It” from The Fantasticks and will be assisted by Micah Brooks, a senior musical theatre major from Rockwall, Texas.

Martin, a sophomore musical theatre and mass communications double major from Sheridan, Ark., is a member of Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society and is a 2019 NATS Southern Region Finalist. Martin’s instructors also are Dr. Jon Secrest and Stephanie Murry.

To begin her recital, Martin will perform Leonard Bernstein’s “A Little Bit in Love” from Wonderful Town followed by Adam Gwon’s “Calm” from Ordinary Days. To conclude the recital, Martin will perform John Cariani’s “The Answer” from Love/Sick and Alan Menken’s “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors. Dylan Blackwood, a senior musical theatre major from Walnut Ridge, Ark., will assist Martin for “A Little Bit in Love,” “The Answer” and “Suddenly Seymour.”

Susan Monroe will be the accompanist for the performances. Elizabeth Dawson, a sophomore musical theatre major from Little Rock, Ark., also will present a sophomore recital at this time. For more information, contact Ouachita’s School of Fine Arts at (870) 245-5129.
