Abby Moseley crowned 2024 Homecoming Queen at Ouachita

Abby Moseley, a senior secondary education and mathematics double major from Centerton, Ark., was crowned Ouachita Baptist University’s 2024 Homecoming Queen during a pregame ceremony at Cliff Harris Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12. Moseley represented the Tri Chi women’s social club, where she has served as president. A member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society for education, she has been named to the President’s List at Ouachita and served as a tutor in the Academic Success Center. Moseley is also a Campus Ministries ministry leader and has been a manager for the Tiger Women’s Basketball team.

“It’s an absolute honor to be able to represent Ouachita as Homecoming Queen,” she said. “I love this place with my entire heart because of the friendships and experiences that have made it my home away from home. Ouachita has made a huge impact on who I am today, and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to be given the joy of representing the university that is so dear to me."

Moseley was crowned by Reyna Rogers, Ouachita’s 2023 Homecoming Queen. Rogers is a senior psychology and criminal justice double major from Arkadelphia, Ark.

First runner-up was Georgia Richards, a senior communications & media/strategic communications major from Farmington, Ark., representing the Ouachita Student Foundation. Richards is president of OSF and is involved in Campus Ministries and the Carl Goodson Honors program. She has been named to the President’s and Dean’s lists at Ouachita.

Second runner-up was Haley Shourd, a senior communications & media/strategic communications major from Conway, Ark., representing the Ouachita News Show. Named to the Dean’s List at Ouachita, Shourd is vice president of the EEE women’s social club, a member of Student Senate and a news reporter with ONS.

Third runner-up was Jillian Covington, a senior communications & media/strategic communications major from Alexandria, La., representing Ouachita Rec Life. Named to the President’s and Dean’s lists at Ouachita, Covington is a member of the Carl Goodson Honors Program; she has served as internal vice president of Student Senate and as Tiger Tunes director for the Ouachita Student Foundation. She is a member of the Tri Chi women’s social club and is a Rho Sigma men’s social club little sis.

Meghann Bledsoe, Malea Borland and Caroline Jurkovich tied for fourth runner-up.

Bledsoe, a senior Christian studies/biblical studies & theology and communications & media/integrated communications double major from Plano, Texas, represented the Ouachita Photo Lab, where she serves as editor. Bledsoe is a member of Tri Chi women’s social club and the Pruett Sisterhood and serves as a Campus Ministries ministry leader. She has been named to the President’s List at Ouachita and is a member of the Carl Goodson Honors Program.

Borland, a senior community & family services and philosophy double major from Carrollton, Ohio, represented the Student Senate. A member of the Tri Chi women’s social club, where she has served as chaplain and song leader, Borland has been named to the President’s and Dean’s lists at Ouachita and is a member of the Carl Goodson Honors Program. She is a Campus Ministries ministry leader, an Eta Alpha Omega men’s social club sweetheart and a member of the Pruet Sisterhood.

Jurkovich, a senior elementary education major from Bossier City, La., represented the EEE women’s social club, where she serves as president. A member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society for education, Jurkovich has been named to the Dean’s List at Ouachita and has served with the Ouachita Student Foundation and the Elrod Center for Family & Community.

The Tigers won against East Central with a score of 40-0, bringing them to a 6-0 record. With 505 yards in total offense, the Tigers held East Central to 88 total offensive yards.

The following students were also among the top 20 Homecoming Court nominees:

Kate Branstetter, a sophomore communication sciences & disorders and music double major from Ponca City, Okla., was the Student Senate sophomore representative. Branstetter is a member of the Tri Chi women’s social club and Ouachita Singers.

Jane Ellen Dial, a senior elementary education major from Little Rock, Ark., represented Kappa Delta Pi honor society for education. Dial is a member of the EEE women’s social club and the Ouachita Student Foundation.

Kasey Dumas, a senior art education major from El Dorado, Ark., represented the Art Club. Dumas is a member of the EEE women’s social club.

Kate Ellis, a senior communications and English double major from Frisco, Texas, represented The Signal student newspaper. Ellis is a member of the EEE women’s social club and the Welcome to Ouachita’s World steering committee.

Amaya Hardin, a senior musical theater major from Maumelle, Ark., represented Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society. Hardin is a member of Ouachita Singers and a two-time Tiger Tunes host.

Reese Hargrove, a junior English and secondary education double major from Little Rock, Ark., represented the Ouachita chapter of Sigma Tau Delta international English society. A member of the Tri Chi women’s social club, Hargrove serves through the Elrod Center.

Alli Hylkema, a junior political science and communications & media/strategic communications double major from Jackson, Tenn., was the Student Senate junior representative. Hylkema is a member of the Ouachita women’s cross country and track & field teams and the Tri Chi women’s social club.

Deanne Puryear, a junior worship studies and Christian foundations double major from Jonesboro, Ark., represented Ouachita Singers. Puryear is a member of the EEE women’s social club and Ouachita Worship.

Katie Reeves, a senior communication sciences & disorders major from Shreveport, La., represented the Eta Alpha Omega men’s social club. Reeves is a member of the Tri Chi women’s social club and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.

Skyler Schaffer, a senior instrumental music education major from West, Texas, represented Resident Life. Schaffer is a member of the Tri Chi women’s social club and the Marching Band.

Abby Thurman, a senior communications sciences & disorders major from Berryville, Ark., represented the Ouachita chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. Thurman is a member of the EEE women’s social club and Student Senate and is a Rho Sigma men’s social club little sis.

Olivia Whitlach, a senior communications sciences & disorders major from Jonesboro, Ark., represented Ouachita Cheer. Whitlach is a member of the EEE women’s social club and National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.

Allie Jane Wilson, a senior biology and Christian foundations double major from Springdale, Ark., represented Campus Ministries. A member of the EEE women’s social club and an Eta Alpha Omega men’s social club sweetheart, Wilson serves with the Elrod Center.

Sydni Worley, a senior communications and writing double major from Little Rock, Ark., represented the Beta Beta men’s social club. Worley is a member of the Tri Chi women’s social club and The Signal Online newspaper staff.
