A Weekly Word: Luke 1:30-33

January 01, 2020

As the semester draws to a close and you face finals you are probably a little anxious, which is totally natural. For some, this it is a time to show they studied well and are ready to demonstrate their knowledge and delight in the results. For others, it may be a time to accept the fact that opportunities were lost this semester, but valuable lessons have been learned about the benefits of working consistently throughout the semester. It is fine to make mistakes, but best to avoid making the same mistake over again.

“Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!”

Luke 1:30-33

Our scripture this week reminds us that in the midst of life’s most challenging moments and times of anxiety we can depend on God to bring His comforting presence to us. We serve a God who delights in our accomplishments and wants us to live wholeheartedly. So, whether this semester was more about victory or more about mistakes, take your lessons and use them to become a more mature person. May the Lord be with you as you take your final exams and give you the power of His presence to sustain you!

Merry Christmas and congratulations on finishing up the semester!
