September 16, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present George Brant’s “Into the Breeches!” Thursday-Monday, Sept. 23-27, in Verser Theatre. Performances will be held Thursday-Saturday and Monday at 7:30 p.m., with a matinée performance on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Nicholas Herrington wins 2021 Juried Student Art Show at Ouachita
May 18, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Art Club announced the winners of the 2021 Juried Student Art Show on Scholars Day, April 28, with Nicholas Herrington named the first place winner. Herrington is a junior studio art and history double major from Benton, Ark. The annual competition allows students of all majors the opportunity to have their artwork displayed on campus; the 2021 exhibit will be on display in Hammons Gallery in Mabee Fine Arts Center through October 2.
Ouachita to present One Act Play Festival April 29-30
April 29, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present its biannual, student directed One Act Play Festival on Thursday, April 29, and Friday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Verser Theatre. The One Act Play Festival features a variety of short plays produced by seniors for their end-of-semester project in Ouachita’s directing class.
Owen to perform sophomore voice recital April 23
April 20, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Bella Owen in her sophomore voice recital on Friday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Seating is limited to current students, faculty and staff due to continued COVID-19 precautions; the recital will be available at no cost to the general public via www.livestream.com/obu.
Ouachita's Department of Theatre Arts to present "Little Women: The Musical" April 15-18
April 09, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present its spring production of Little Women: The Musical with the opening performance to be held on Thursday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. Performances will continue April 16-17 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, April 18, at 2:30 p.m. The production is open to Ouachita faculty, staff and students with limited seating to allow for social distancing, and streaming tickets are available to purchase for the general public at obu.edu/boxoffice.
Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host students Brady Barton, Gabrielle Davis, Mandy Halbert and Mallory Morris in their senior graphic design exhibits through Wednesday, March 31, in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Galleries in Moses-Provine Hall. While the artists will forgo receptions and gallery talks due to continued COVID-19 precautions, the exhibits are free and open to the public for viewing.
Ouachita Saxophone Quartet performs at North American Saxophone Alliance Conference
March 24, 2021Ouachita’s student Saxophone Quartet was selected to perform at the Region IV Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance that was held virtually on Friday, March 12, through Sunday, March 14. Members of the Saxophone Quartet include Cross Brandon on baritone, Craig Crawford on soprano saxophone, Graham Scarborough on tenor and Katelyn Still on alto.
Ouachita students earn four finalist, 13 semifinalist honors in virtual state NATS competition
March 18, 2021Four Ouachita Baptist University music students were recognized with finalist honors at the 2021 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions for the state of Arkansas. Over 130 Arkansas college students competed to reach the final round of the competition, which was conducted virtually this year, and 14 Ouachita students earned semifinalist and finalist recognitions.
