Knoernschild places first in Juried Student Art Show
May 06, 2025Ouachita Baptist University’s Cade Knoernschild, a junior art and education double major from Little Rock, Ark., earned first place in the university’s 2025 Student Juried Art Show with his piece titled “A Great Divide.” Winners were announced during an opening reception held on April 23 in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s Hammons Art Gallery.
Ouachita to host award-winning author Cranor for reading and conversation

Ouachita's Dr. Johnny Wink to be honored for 50 years of service
September 15, 2023The Department of Language & Literature at Ouachita Baptist University will honor Dr. Johnny Wink, Betty Burton Peck Professor of English, during a campus reception Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 6:30-8 p.m. in McClellan Hall’s Green-Blevins Rotunda. Open to the public, the party will begin with a brief ceremony to be followed by an informal gathering celebrating Wink’s 50 years on the Ouachita faculty.
Ouachita students honored for their work published in "Assayers 31"
April 24, 2023The Department of Language & Literature in Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Humanities honored nine students for their academic and creative writing featured in “Assayers 31,” the department’s annual academic journal used for instruction in all Composition I classes. The students were recognized during a fall awards ceremony at the Elrod Center for Family & Community.
Three Ouachita seniors intern for U.S. Sen. Boozman
January 19, 2023Three students from Ouachita Baptist University completed a five-week congressional internship for U.S. Sen. John Boozman this summer. Noah Sanders, a senior political science and Christian studies double major from Little Rock, Ark., and Sarah Spakes, a senior political science and public history double major from Benton, Ark., interned in Boozman’s Washington, D.C., office while Kathryn Totty, a senior political science and communications & media double major from Camden, Ark., interned in Boozman’s El Dorado office.

In the years that they have worked at Ouachita, the couple has made some amazing changes to the university.
Moore named first recipient of Wink Scholarship at Ouachita
July 22, 2022Alex Moore, a junior English and philosophy double major from Gulfport, Miss., was named Ouachita Baptist University’s inaugural Johnny and Susan Wink Scholarship Award winner. He was recognized during an April ceremony in Ouachita’s Young Auditorium.
Ouachita sophomore Sydney Motl wins Alpha Chi scholarship
July 11, 2022Sydney Motl, a sophomore English major from Arkadelphia, Ark., won the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society Alfred H. Nolle scholarship at the 2022 National Scholarship Competition, held in March in Austin, Texas.
