Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host senior musical theatre majors Heather Baker and Michael Krikorian in their senior recital Tuesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Baker, a native of Cleburne, Texas, has served as chaplain of OBU’s Theta Alpha Phi national honor fraternity for theatre arts and as a Campus Ministries ministry leader as Rough Draft drama team director. Baker is a member of Ouachita’s Honors Program and Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society, has been named to OBU’s President’s List and advanced to the semi-final round in the recent Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship auditions. She is a student of Dr. Margaret Garret, OBU assistant professor of music.

Krikorian, a Rockwall, Texas, native, has served as president of OBU’s Theta Alpha Phi national honor fraternity for theatre arts and also advanced to the semi-final round in the recent Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship auditions as Baker’s acting partner. He is a student of Dr. Glenda Secrest, OBU professor of music.

Baker will open the recital with Cole Porter’s “Too Darn Hot” from Kiss Me, Kate with assistance from Krikorian, Taylor Bass, Daniel Collier, Samantha Parrish and Jacob Watson. Krikorian will follow with Jason Robert Brown’s “Movin’ Too Fast” from The Last 5 Years.

Baker and Krikorian will then collaborate to perform Act V, Scene I from George Farquhar’s comedic play The Beaux’ Stratagem.

Next, Baker will perform Brian Lowdermilk’s “Not a Love Story” from Tales from the Bad Years, followed by Krikorian with Eric Idle’s “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway” from Spamalot. Krikorian will be assisted by Bass, Collier, Parrish and Watson.

Baker will then present another Brian Lowdermilk selection, “My Party Dress” from Henry and Mudge, before joining with Krikorian for Act II, Scene II of Jonathan Tolins’ The Twilight of the Golds.

Krikorian will then perform Stephen Sondheim’s “Move On” from Sunday in the Park with George with assistance from Baker before performing Act I of Peter Shaffer’s The Public Eye with assistance from Parrish

Baker will perform “In Short” from Edges by Benji Pasek as final solo selection. She will then assist Krikorian in his final selection, Galt MacDermot’s “Let the Sunshine In” from HAIR as the closing performance. He will also be assisted by Bass, Collier, Parrish and Watson.
