Beatles experience group, Liverpool Legends, to perform at Ouachita March 15

The Liverpool Legends, a Beatles experience group, will be in concert at Ouachita Baptist University on March 15 at 7 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. The two-hour show will feature the Ouachita Baptist University Band as part of the Liverpool Legends’ “Help Keep Music Alive” program that promotes the importance of music in schools.

Liverpool Legends was founded by Louise Harrison, sister of former Beatle George Harrison. When they are not performing their popular Branson show, the Liverpool Legends travel to various schools helping raise money for music departments.

“This will be a great event for Ouachita and our band program,” said Dr. Craig Hamilton, director of bands at OBU and chair of the music education department. “I think it will be a blast to share the stage with the Liverpool Legends show. It’s a wonderful show and I’m excited we get to be a part of it.”

The first half of the show will feature music from the Beatles’ early years, and the second half will feature music from their the later years. The Ouachita Band will join the show for the second half, playing backup. The show will also feature many original photos and video clips of the Beatles and Louise Harrison’s personal stories from traveling with the band.

“We’re all excited because of the reviews we’ve heard,” said Alex Goff, a senior instrumental music education major from Nashville, Ark., who will play with the band. Goff said the band is excited about “what a cool show it’s going to be.”

VIP tickets will be available “to give a more personal and unique experience to those who crave to know more about the Beatles,” Hamilton said. These tickets, available at $50 each, will include an opportunity to meet the band and Louise Harrison before the show, a meal on campus with Harrison and priority seating for the concert.

20 percent of all ticket sales from the concert will benefit the OBU Band program. Tickets for the general public are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Students may purchase tickets for $10 with a valid student photo ID, and Ouachita students may attend at no charge with a valid OBU student ID. Tickets may be purchased at the JPAC Box Office from 1-5 p.m. weekdays, online at www.obu.edu/boxoffice or by calling (870) 245-5555.

Hamilton said he hopes the concert “will be a sold out and an enjoyable event for all.”
