Ouachita to host 20th annual Spotlight on Arkadelphia Aug. 20
July 25, 2013 - Trennis Henderson
Ouachita Baptist University’s annual Spotlight on Arkadelphia, which debuted on campus in 1994, will mark its 20th year on Aug. 20.
The community and service fair is scheduled on the first day of the 2013 fall semester.
It will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Heflin Plaza and the Student Village circle.
The annual event draws hundreds of Ouachita students, faculty and staff, providing
area businesses, churches and organizations the opportunity to interact with the Ouachita
community. It is co-hosted by the OBU Office of Campus Activities and Office of Communications.
“We are excited to host the 20th annual Spotlight on Arkadelphia this year,” said Brooke Zimny, assistant director
of communications. “Our students always appreciate the time and effort the Arkadelphia
community contributes to the event. It makes for a special introduction for our new
students and a great opportunity to welcome returning students back to town each year.”
Approximately 80 to 90 vendors typically set up booths for Spotlight. Community participants
provide free samples, coupons, brochures and other giveaways during the festival-style
event.
Ouachita Baptist University, a private Christian liberal arts university in Arkadelphia,
is ranked nationally among “America’s Best Colleges” by both U.S. News & World Report and Forbes magazines. Serving since 1886 as a Christ-centered learning community, Ouachita seeks
