Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Hannah Fender in her sophomore
recital on Friday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. The performance will be held in Mabee Fine
Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
“I am getting the chance to perform something that I had a hand in creating,” said
Fender, a musical theatre major from Maumelle, Ark. “It is pretty diverse, so people
will get to see a couple of different sides of the way I perform.”
Her recital will include the following selections: “A Trip to the Library” from She Loves Me by Jerry Bock, “The Girl I Mean to Be” from The Secret Garden by Lucy Simon, “Getting It Back” from Almost, Maine by John Cariani and “Therapy” from Tick, Tick... BOOM! by Jonathan Larson.
Fender serves as vice president of Ouachita’s chapter of Alpha Psi Omega national
theatre honor society and is a member of Women’s Chorus.
She noted that all of her instructors have played a strong role in preparing her for
her performance, saying, “I am very appreciative of all they have done for me to help
me grow.”
Phyllis Walker, OBU staff accompanist, will accompany her. Michael Pere, a sophomore
musical theatre major from Roland, Ark., will assist Fender for “Getting It Back”
and “Therapy.”
