Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Joy Biebighauser in her senior vocal recital on Friday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

JBBiebighauser is a senior worship arts major from Grapevine, Texas, and is a recipient of the James Harrison Scholarship. Biebighauser is a student of Dr. Arnold Rawls, Ouachita associate professor of music and artist in residence.

“I have grown so much during my time at Ouachita, and the idea that this is the culmination of all that I have learned is exhilarating but also nerve-wracking,” Biebighauser said. “I have put everything I have ever learned into this recital, and I hope that the audience enjoys what they hear.”

Biebighauser will begin her recital with George Frideric Händel’s “Let the Bright Seraphim” from Samson and “Rejoice Greatly” from Messiah. She will then perform George Bizet’s “Ouvre ton coeur” and Franz Schubert’s “Gretchen am Spinnrade.” To conclude her recital, Biebighauser will perform Giacomo Puccini’s “Chi il bel sogno di Doretta” from La rondine and Albert Hay Malotte’s “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Biebighauser will be assisted by Dr. Craig Hamilton, Ouachita’s Lena Goodwin Trimble Professor of Music and director of bands on the piccolo trumpet, and Kristen La Madrid will be her accompanist.
