When you enroll as a visual arts major at Ouachita Baptist University you join a program immersed in the fine arts and situated in a liberal arts campus offering courses that compliment and enhance your learning as an artist. As part of Ouachita's School of Fine Arts you learn along side students studying in theatre and music as well as those in the visual arts of ceramics, drawing, graphic design and painting.

The Graphic Design program at Ouachita Baptist University offers students the opportunity to engage in studio art classes as well as develop and refine their skills as a designer. Graphic Design courses emphasize and broaden each student’s knowledge in design, computer graphics, and an overall liberal arts education.

A BFA in graphic design is a professional degree for someone who intends pursue a career as a professional designer. It provides all the training necessary for a career as a designer, with courses in graphic design, typography, user experience and web design. The degree provides both the visual foundations and the problem solving skills needed to create unique communication solutions in addition to the technical skills needed by today's designer.

For students interested in graphic design but wanting to pair it with a second major or minor in another area, the BA will provide students with a rounded selection of courses in art and design and gives them diverse skills while allowing for more courses in other areas.

The Rosemary Gossett Adams Department of Visual Arts provides a 24-hour access Mac lab, equipped with Illustrator CS6, Photoshop CS6, and InDesign for graphic design students. Internship opportunities provide students with experience for their future career. Students have the opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibit their senior year.

BA Studio Art

Studio Art at Ouachita Baptist University allows students to take basic graphic design courses, a variety of studio courses, and general core liberal arts courses. Students majoring in studio art choose an emphasis in drawing, painting, or ceramics, which will be explored further with additional courses.

Rosemary Gossett Adams Department of Visual Arts provides a fully equipped, ceramics, painting, drawing studio, and workshop for students to further their learning and art experience. The department showcases different artist’s work in Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery. Students have the opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibit their senior year.

BA Art Education

Art Education at Ouachita Baptist University provides a balance between art and education through a liberal arts experience. Students take a total of 42 hours of art education courses as well as 32 hours in professional education courses. Majors choose an emphasis area to explore further with additional courses in ceramic, drawing, or painting.

This program provides students with a variety of hands on experience that will help further their knowledge of art and education. Students have the opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibit their senior year.
