Ouachita’s Sammy Campione to perform sophomore recital Nov. 15

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Sammy Campione in his sophomore recital on Friday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. The recital, which is free and open to the public, will be held in McBeth Recital Hall in Ouachita’s Mabee Fine Arts Center.

Campione, a sophomore musical theatre major from Waxahachie, Texas, will begin with a performance of Adam Gwon’s “One by One by One” from Ordinary Days and a scene from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blindby the Neo-Futurists. Campione will then perform an original arrangement of Jule Styne’s “I Met a Girl” from Bells are Ringing and Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s “Tonight at 8” from She Loves Me. To conclude his recital, Campione will perform Gary Barlow, Scott Frankel and Eliot Kennedy’s “What You Mean to Me” from Finding Neverland.

Campione’s instructors are Dr. Jon Secrest, Addie Mae Maddox Professor of Music, and Joe Hernandez, assistant professor of theatre arts. Emma Pitts, a senior choral music education major from Clarksville, Ark., will assist Campione in “One by One by One.” Danielle Hall, a junior musical theatre major from Prairie Grove, Ark., will assist Campione in the scene from Too Much Light as well as “What You Mean to Me,” which was choreographed by Campione and Hailey Smith, a sophomore musical theatre major from Wichita, Kan. Susan Monroe will be the accompanist for the recital.
