Attending a college that loves you back: A Ouachita senior's reflections
May 06, 2021“Why did you want to go to college at Ouachita? Didn’t you want to get out of your hometown?” I have been asked these questions frequently since I stepped on to campus as a freshman in 2017. To me, not going to Ouachita had never been an option. For as long as I can remember, Ouachita was the next step, and it couldn’t get here soon enough.
Ouachita Baptist University communications & media students have received five national Gold Circle Awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for the Ouachitonian yearbook and 39 state awards for the Ouachitonian, Signal newspaper and Ouachita Sports Digital Network from the Arkansas College Media Association (ACMA) as the spring 2021 semester comes to a close.
Ouachita's Patterson School of Natural Sciences hosts Arkansas' first Women in STEM Conference
March 25, 2021Ouachita Baptist University’s Patterson School of Natural Sciences hosted the inaugural Arkansas Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference on Saturday, March 20, for college students across the state. The virtual event was conducted entirely over Zoom and featured a keynote address, seven concurrent panel discussions with 31 professional women in STEM fields and two sessions of poster presentations highlighting woman-led research and honoring notable women’s contributions to STEM.
Six Ouachita students recognized at virtual Midwest Model United Nations
March 05, 2021Six Ouachita Baptist University student delegates attended and received recognition for their respective roles at the Midwest Model United Nations simulation, held virtually Feb. 19-21. All six participants received recognition this year, either through individual award or as part of a delegation; Ouachita’s delegates included Cole Alexander, Taryn Bewley, Faith Moore, Anna Roussel, Rylie Slone and Spencer Worth.
Ouachita Sports Digital Network airs first broadcasts from new production trailer
February 19, 2021A team of nine Ouachita Baptist University students in the Ouachita Sports Digital Network (OSDN) recorded and produced their first series of broadcasts the weekend of Jan. 23-24 from a new production trailer, providing coverage of Tiger swimming and basketball events to fans after a 10-month pause on Ouachita and overall NCAA Division II athletic events due to COVID-19.

Ouachita's Cole Jester wins Ouachita-Henderson State's annual Business Plan Competition
May 06, 2019Ouachita Baptist University teams won first, second and fifth place in this year’s OBU/HSU Business Plan Competition, held on Henderson State University’s campus April 23. Senior Cole Jester earned first place in the competition for his business plan, Bone Dri, along with a $4,000 cash prize.
Ouachita's annual Elrod Center service awards banquet honored Linda Burns and student volunteers
