Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Julia Letcher and Kyleigh Stevens in their sophomore voice recitals Friday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Seating is limited to current students, faculty and staff due to continued COVID-19 precautions; the recital will be available at no cost to the general public via www.livestream.com/obu.

Ouachita's Barton, Davis, Halbert and Morris to present senior graphic design exhibits through March 31

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host students Brady Barton, Gabrielle Davis, Mandy Halbert and Mallory Morris in their senior graphic design exhibits through Wednesday, March 31, in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Galleries in Moses-Provine Hall. While the artists will forgo receptions and gallery talks due to continued COVID-19 precautions, the exhibits are free and open to the public for viewing.

In Uganda, deaf children are commonly abandoned and left without assistance with medical needs or education. Within three months of visiting Uganda for the first time, Dani Imrie, a sophomore elementary education major from Jonesboro, Ark., saw a need and helped create a nonprofit overseas.

Hamilton awarded $20,000 Arkansas INBRE grant to purchase lyophilizer, enhance Ouachita's School of Natural Science laboratories

Ouachita’s Dr. Sharon Hamilton, assistant professor of chemistry, has been awarded $20,000 in funding by Arkansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) to purchase a lyophilizer freeze-dryer, an instrument used to remove aqueous solvents in industry and research. The instrument will be used to enhance both course-based undergraduate research and independent research projects in Ouachita’s Patterson School of Natural Sciences.

Ouachita to host Art and Design Faculty Biennial Exhibit through Feb. 26

Ouachita Baptist University’s Rosemary Adams Department of Art and Design is hosting its Art and Design Faculty Biennial Exhibit in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery, located in Moses-Provine Hall, through Friday, Feb. 26. The exhibit features the work of the Ouachita’s Art and Design faculty members and is free and open to the public.

Ouachita crowns Holly Shipp as 2020 Homecoming Queen

Holly Shipp, a senior Christian studies/Biblical studies, Christian missions and Christian ministries triple major from Arlington, Texas, was crowned Ouachita Baptist University’s 2020 Homecoming Queen on Thursday morning in Evans Student Center surrounded by her peers. Shipp represented the Pruet Sisterhood. She is a member of Tri Chi women’s social club and involved in Campus Ministries.

Remember at the onset of COVID-19 in the U.S. when toilet paper was impossible to find and hand sanitizer was out of stock? Imagine the demand for those supplies on a college campus, specifically at Ouachita. Thanks to the work of Randall Quillin, building services supervisor in Ouachita’s Office of Facilities Management, and his building services team, Ouachita was able secure needed supplies to return to on-campus classes.
