Ouachita to host Small Works on Paper exhibit through Oct. 25

Ouachita Baptist University’s Rosemary Adams Department of Art and Design is hosting a juried visual art exhibition coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council through Friday, Oct. 25. The Small Works on Paper exhibit, which will be displayed in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery on the first and second floor of Moses-Provine Hall, is free and open to the public.

Ouachita to host percussionist Daniel Smithiger and oboist Dawn Striker-Roberts Oct. 22

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host percussionist Daniel Smithiger and oboist Dawn Striker-Roberts on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the university’s 2019-2020 Guest Artist Series. The performance, to be held in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center, is free and open to the public.

Ouachita students, faculty and staff came together last Saturday for Tiger Serve Day, a semi-annual event in which the university serves the Arkadelphia community. More than 800 volunteers gave their time and completed over 100 different service projects.

Staff profile: Sherri (Greer '81) Phelps, An advocate for our people

Sherri Phelps always knew she wanted to work with people, but when she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech pathology from Ouachita in the spring of 1981, she hadn’t anticipated a career in human resources. When Ouachita offered Phelps and her husband, Bill (’81), jobs at the university, it was the beginning of four decades of service to Ouachita faculty and staff. They knew then that they were being called to lives of meaningful work right here at their alma mater.
