Erica Dixon crowned 2021 Homecoming Queen at Ouachita

October 14, 2021

Erica Dixon, a senior graphic design major from Arkadelphia, Ark., was crowned Ouachita Baptist University’s 2021 Homecoming Queen during a pregame ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 2. Dixon represented Tri Chi women’s social club, which she serves as president. She also is a member of the Tiger Steel Band and is a Kappa Chi men’s social club little sis.

Ouachita honors outstanding alumni during Homecoming festivities

Ten Ouachita Baptist University alumni received the university’s Alumni Milestone Award in conjunction with Ouachita’s Homecoming celebration Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Based on their professional achievements, community service and dedication to their alma mater, they were chosen by a committee of Ouachita faculty and staff and Ouachita President Ben Sells.

Ouachita Baptist University's Elrod Center holds Tiger Serve Day

Ouachita Baptist University’s Elrod Center for Family and Community held its Fall 2021 Tiger Serve Day event on Saturday, Sept. 25. One hundred projects in and around Arkadelphia were completed by 831 Ouachita volunteers who also resumed traditional Tiger Serve Day activities such as visiting the homes of senior adults, yard work and assisting local nonprofit organizations like LightHouse Ministries and The Percy and Donna Malone Child Safety Center.

Ouachita's La Fuerza and Riley-Hickingbotham Library Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month, held Sept. 15-Oct. 15 annually, honors Hispanic and Latin Americans’ histories, cultures and contributions in the United States. This year’s campus-wide celebration kicks off with a luncheon Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at Ouachita Commons, hosted by Ouachita’s Office of Multicultural Student Programs and La Fuerza, Ouachita’s Latino student organization. La Fuerza’s Fiesta Mesa is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 24, at noon in Evans Student Center, followed by Tiger Serve Day on Saturday, Sept. 25.

God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good. I was fortunate to grow up in a home where we were taught about Jesus and grew to love Him. My parents are both pillars of faith in the foundation of my life, and for that I am grateful.
