Bethany Gere and Cami Willis to present senior voice recital at Ouachita on March 10

Ouachita Baptist University will host seniors Bethany Gere and Cami Willis in their
senior vocal performance recitals Tuesday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Mabee Fine Art
Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on Ouachita’s campus. The recital is free and open to
the public.
“I have been thinking of this night since freshman year,” Gere said. “I can’t believe
it’s finally here. I hope everyone enjoys the performances.”
Gere, a musical theatre and communication sciences and disorders double major from
White Hall, Ark., has earned the second place finishes in the musical theatre, sophomore
women and freshmen women divisions of the state National Association of Teachers of
Singing auditions as well as second place in sophomore women at the regional level.
She also is a member of Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society, Theta Alpha
Phi national honor fraternity for theatre arts and OBU Women’s Chorus. Willis, a musical
theatre and church media/production arts double major from Flower Mound, Texas, is
a member of Alpha Psi Omega and Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society.
The seniors will perform together for Green Day’s “21 Guns” from American Idiot and Act 1, Scene 4 from Matt William’s Between Daylight and Booneville. Accompanying Gere and Willis for the recital will be John Alec Briggs on piano.
Gere will perform solos of Richard Rodgers’ “I Have Confidence” from The Sound of Music, Clark Gesner’s “Crabbiness Survey” from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Stephen Schwartz’s “No Good Deed” from Wicked, Frank Wildhorn’s “How ‘Bout a Dance?” from Bonnie and Clyde and Marc Shaiman’s “Don’t Forget Me” from Bombshell.
Willis’ solo performance will include Jule Styne’s “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from
Funny Girl; Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard’s “With You” from Ghost the Musical; Act 2, Scene 2 from Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park; Jonathan Larson’s “Therapy” from Tick, Tick ... Boom!; and Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson’s “You Have to Be There” from Kristina.
