- Office of Communications & MarketingOuachita Baptist University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has received continuing accreditation status for the next seven years from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. Following an ACEN visit to campus last fall, the renewal was made official on April 30.
“As a student, this accreditation demonstrates accountability and excellence within the nursing world,” Ashleigh Estes, a 2026 nursing and communications & media/strategic communications graduate from Keller, Texas, said. “A small school like Ouachita meets the same quality standards as bigger schools out there, which gives me peace of mind. I feel especially assured seeing my education come together, and I’m confident that I am well prepared to enter the field of nursing.”
ACEN granted initial accreditation to Ouachita’s nursing program in March 2021. Since then, the program has celebrated milestones such as its first graduating class in 2022, a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX in 2025 and three faculty members being named to Arkansas’ 40 Nurse Leaders Under 40 in 2026. The continuing accreditation will last through ACEN’s next campus visit in 2033.
“With our outstanding faculty and the recent 100% pass rate, we felt really good about the visit and look forward to training more nurses to serve Arkansas and beyond,” said Dr. Tim Knight, dean of the Patterson School of Natural Sciences and professor of biology.
The Department of Nursing prepares students to meet the healthcare needs of patients of all ages and locations by providing a foundation built on Christian values, as well as excellence in nursing standards and ethics.
