Campbell to present sophomore recital Oct. 23

October 15, 2020

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Chaney Campbell in her sophomore musical theatre recital on Friday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. The recital will be livestreamed for the public at livestream.com/obu, and there is limited seating for Ouachita students, faculty and staff in McBeth Recital Hall.

Dixon, Salmon, Stewart to present senior graphic design exhibits through Oct. 23

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will host the senior exhibits of Samantha Dixon, Josh Salmon and Mackenzie Stewart beginning Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Oct. 23, in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery on the second floor of Moses-Provine Hall. While the artists will forgo receptions and gallery talks due to COVID-19, the exhibits are free and open to the public for viewing.

Student Juried Art Show on display through Oct. 4, Jones wins first place

Earlier this month, Ouachita Baptist University’s Rosemary Adams Department of Art and Design announced Sollie Jones, a 2020 communications & media/film studies graduate from Livingston, Texas, as the winner of its annual Student Juried Art Show. The exhibit, which features an array of art pieces created by students across campus, currently is on display on the first floor of the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery in Moses-Provine Hall and is free and open to the public through Oct. 4.

Ouachita to present one act edition of "Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic" Sept. 17-22

Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will open its fall children’s production, “Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Verser Theatre. Performances will continue September 18-19 and 21-22 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2:30 p.m.

Laurie Huneycutt named Ouachita's Support Staff Member of the Year

Ouachita Baptist University recently named Laurie Huneycutt, administrative assistant to the dean in the School of Fine Arts, as the 2019-2020 Support Staff Member of the Year. Huneycutt has served the School of Fine Arts for 25 years.

Ouachita appoints alumnus Larry Grayson as chair of the Department of Worship Arts

Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts has appointed alumnus Larry Grayson as chair of the Department of Worship Arts and instructor of music. Originally from Camden, Ark., Grayson previously served 10 years as music and worship consultant for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) in Little Rock, Ark.
