Letter from the Dean of Students
From the Dean: Tim Harrell | Office of Student Development
Welcome to Ouachita! As the Dean of Students, it is my privilege to assist you in
reaching your personal and academic goals. Our campus is full of talented individuals
experienced in guiding students as they grow and develop. The Ouachita community challenges
students to meet behavioral expectations and learn from their experiences in the classroom
and beyond. I’d like to share our philosophy on student conduct, which helps strengthen
our campus community and enrich the student experience.
Ouachita fosters a vibrant campus community that promotes the growth of the whole person intellectually, physically, spiritually and socially. When student behavior is not aligned with the Standards of Student Conduct, outlined in the Tiger Handbook, Ouachita offers a redemptive process so students may be restored to the community. We believe that students need the opportunity to learn how their decisions affect not only themselves, but their community as well. While accepting accountability for one’s actions can be challenging, it presents a valuable opportunity for substantial personal development and growth in students’ lives.
I look forward to meeting each of you, so please stop me on campus to say hello!
Tim Harrell, M.A.

The Tiger Handbook outlines the Standards of Student Conduct for student behavior
both on and off campus. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the
handbook to ensure a smooth and successful experience.
