Steve Guymon to lead Ouachita women's cross country and competitive club sports
April 24, 2019Ouachita Baptist University announced that Steve Guymon has been hired as head women’s cross country coach and director of competitive club sports. He previously served as head coach for track and cross country at Harding University since 2002.
Division of Music to present annual PRISM instrumental concert April 29
April 24, 2019Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will present its annual PRISM concert on April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature the Ouachita Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble and other various ensembles and soloists from Ouachita’s instrumental program.
Ouachita to host Virginia Queen Piano Competition May 3
April 24, 2019Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host its annual Virginia Queen Piano Competition Friday, May 3, at 3 p.m. The competition will be held in Ouachita’s McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center, and admission is free and open to the public.
Bill Downs didn’t always tell the truth. I have proof of it. In 2004, Downs wrote a book called “The Fighting Tigers: The Untold Stories Behind the Names on the Ouachita Baptist University World War II Memorial." I asked him to autograph the book for me in December of that year, and this is what he wrote: “To Rex Nelson, the only OBU student I have ever had who wrote so beautifully that I never found anything to correct.”
