Ouachita to honor class of 2020 in 133rd commencement ceremony on Dec. 5
November 20, 2020Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 133rd commencement honoring the class of 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. in Cliff Harris Stadium on Ouachita’s campus. The ceremony, which was rescheduled from its original date in May due to COVID-19, will honor 309 graduates.
Ouachita alumnus Eli Cranor returns to campus to share authorial journey

Ouachita faculty, staff honored for combined 780 years of service
November 18, 2020Ouachita Baptist University recently recognized 36 faculty and staff members in celebration of their milestone anniversaries working for the university. Together they have served a total of 780 years at the start of the 2020-2021 academic year, with six faculty and staff members celebrating 35 years or more.

November 18, 2020When Ouachita sent students home for an extended Spring Break in March of 2020, it took some by surprise. Thankfully, Ouachita's Kevin Herrington and the Office of IT Services had already been working on contingency plans for the possibility of remote learning.
Julio Pruitt ('09) finished his 4-season career with the Ouachita Tigers with 171 catches for 2,406 career yards – a school record at that time. Later, Julio was signed by the Miami Dolphins and joined their practice squad and before being promoted to the team’s active roster, where he played for three seasons. New on the Tiger For Life Podcast, Julio shares about finishing his degree this fall with Ouachita Online, his favorite football memories and his plans to return to Newport, Ark., to invest in youth in his hometown.
Memorial gift honors Ouachita student Charlee Morrison, invests in cancer research at Ouachita
November 16, 2020Ouachita Baptist University has received a gift from Russell and Patti Morrison in memory of their daughter, Charlee Morrison, a former Ouachita student who passed away in 2000 during her senior year at Ouachita. The gift will be used to enhance Ouachita’s first undergraduate research laboratory dedicated to cancer cell biology.
Ouachita crowns Holly Shipp as 2020 Homecoming Queen
November 10, 2020Holly Shipp, a senior Christian studies/Biblical studies, Christian missions and Christian ministries triple major from Arlington, Texas, was crowned Ouachita Baptist University’s 2020 Homecoming Queen on Thursday morning in Evans Student Center surrounded by her peers. Shipp represented the Pruet Sisterhood. She is a member of Tri Chi women’s social club and involved in Campus Ministries.
Hamilton awarded $297,000 Arkansas IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence grant
November 10, 2020Ouachita Baptist University’s Dr. Sharon Hamilton, assistant professor of chemistry, has been awarded $297,431 in funding over the next two and a half years by the Arkansas IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) to support her research of incorporating proteins into novel modern wound dressings.
After teaching elementary students for 10 years and later working in education sales and consulting, Sara Wheeler McDaniel ('98) moved home to Louisiana and restored a cottage. Her beautiful home has now been featured in magazines and on social media accounts like "Better Homes and Gardens," "Southern Living," "Cottages and Bungalows" and more.
