Jon Merryman, Ouachita Baptist University’s director of alumni relations and the Ouachita Student Foundation, recently was appointed as a commissioner to the Alumni Affairs Directors Group with the national Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). Merryman is one of seven directors from the U.S. and Canada appointed to the group by the president of CCCU, Shirley Hoogstra.
Food is a reason to gather with our friends and family. Food is also something that is nostalgic, whether from our childhood, special occasions or cool places we’ve visited. For many of us, food reminds us of home and our community. Our international students on Ouachita’s campus feel exactly the same way, but they cannot simply go home for a weekend if they are missing home.

October 28, 2019Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present the play A Doll’s House beginning Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Verser Theatre. Performances will continue Nov. 8-9 and 11 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2:30 p.m.

The conference was held Oct. 5-6 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and was hosted by the University of Alabama.

Ouachita to host author, retired Lt. Col. Mark McGraw for memoir reading on Nov. 5
October 24, 2019Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Language and Literature will host author Dr. Mark McGraw in a debut reading of his newly published memoir, Behind Friendly Lines: Memoirs of a U.S. Marine in Chile, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. The event will be held in room 200 of Hickingbotham Hall and is free and open to the public. There also will be time for questions from the audience after the reading.
Dr. David W. Bebbington spoke at Ouachita Baptist University on Oct. 7 as part of the university’s Birkett Williams Lecture Series. A world-renowned scholar on evangelicalism, Bebbington focused his lecture on the history of evangelicalism and its relevancy to the modern Christian.
Ouachita to host Small Works on Paper exhibit through Oct. 25
October 15, 2019Ouachita Baptist University’s Rosemary Adams Department of Art and Design is hosting a juried visual art exhibition coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council through Friday, Oct. 25. The Small Works on Paper exhibit, which will be displayed in the Rosemary Gossett Adams Gallery on the first and second floor of Moses-Provine Hall, is free and open to the public.
