Government Resources

Federal Depository LibraryRiley-Hickingbotham Library has been a selective depository for U.S. Government Documents since 1963. The collection includes publications from a wide range of government agencies. In accordance with the library's government documents collection development policy, selections are based on the research and curricular needs of OBU faculty and students as well as the information needs of constituents from the Fourth Congressional District of Arkansas.

FDLP Basic Collection - Required items for all depository libraries.

GovInfo - Provides free public access to official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government.

Homeland Security Digital Library - The Homeland Security Digital Library (HSDL) is the nation's premier collection of documents related to homeland security policy, strategy, and organizational management. The HSDL is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Preparedness Directorate, FEMA and the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security.

Library of Congress - Official site of our nation's largest federal library, offering a wide range of collections, resources, educational programs, and services.

National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections - Gateway to archival and manuscript collections held by participating repositories across the United States and its territories.

USGS Science Explorer - United States Geological Survey tools and information on a wide range of science topics -- biology and ecosystems; land resources; coasts; data tools and technology; energy; environmental health; geology; mapping and geospatial data; minerals; natural hazards; oceans; planetary science; and water.

My Healthfinder - User-friendly guide to reliable consumer health and human services information, including: selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, Web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public.

MedlinePlus - Extensive information about specific diseases and conditions as well as links to consumer health information from the National Institutes of Health, dictionaries, lists of hospitals and physicians, health information in Spanish and other languages, and clinical trials.

National Library of Medicine - Resources from the world's largest medical library.

Public Health Reports (PHR) - Official journal of the U.S. Public Health Service. Published since 1878, PHR has been one of the public health community's key information resources in the field of public health. PHR is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed journal that offers articles in three main areas: public health practice, research, and opinions.

PubMed - A service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that provides free access to select life science journals and MEDLINE®, the NLM® database of indexed citations and abstracts to medical, nursing, dental, veterinary, health care, and preclinical sciences journal articles.

Census Data - Current census information and other demographic data searchable by individual states and counties.

Data and Statistics - Topical links to statistical data published by government agencies.

Statistical Abstract of the United States - Published by ProQuest, this is a top source of annual economic, educational, and social statistics about the United States.
